Laurica Farms – Sausage sizzle

July 4, 2016 by Chefsthought

In addition to buying products from your favorite farms, there are other ways you can support them. Many farms are now offering events, opening their gates to us the consumers, as a way of educating us on their practices as well as helping supplement their income. In fact, many farms are finding, that without these events, it is become increasingly difficult to make a living by just selling their products.

Last weekend we attended one such event at Laurica Farms- a sausage sizzle. You could enjoy a lamb sausage made from their pastured lamb or pork sausage from their heritage pigs. It was such a fun evening, relaxing on the farm with a”cold beverage”, visiting with old and new friends, and being part of a community of like minded people. There was produce for sale, organic freezies, and local preserves. Music, their petting zoo, and a bouncy castle provided additional entertainment( I was told the bouncy castle was for the kids, but I think if I’d stayed later into the evening I could have had a turn when the little ones had gone!) All in all it was a great evening and I am looking forward to attending many more farm events like this one!

Coming out and supporting local farm events like this is a win win for everyone! Stay updated on Laurica farms events by visiting their website http://lauricafarm.com/
