Langley Eats Local

August 23, 2016 by Chefsthought

When I was asked to participate in Langley Eats Local at the Langley Farmers market it was no brainer for me to say yes. We have been part of the Langley community for so long, and have had such great support from the people here, that it was great to give back. Coming up with the menu was a lot of fun as well. I had my budget, and spent the afternoon wandering the market, talking to vendors, and putting together a menu. What I couldn’t find at the market, I purchased at some local businesses such as All of Oils, 1 Fish 2 Fish and The Trading Post Brewery. I should also mention that another local business, The Water Shed Cafe, opened up their kitchen for me to prep for this event!

The turn out on the day of the event was incredible. It’s nice to see that many of our restaurant supporters still follow us to events like this and show their support for local food! It was also a pleasure to meet Ned Bell from The Vancouver Aquarium, who was there with Toyota supporting local farmers markets, and helped with the food service, as well as giving a talk on ocean wise and sustainable seafood. I hope that I can participate in this again next year!

If you head on over to our recipe section, I have most of the recipes we used that day published there! Recipes!
